Washington State University

Washington State University (WSU)is a public research university with R1 status (Very High Research Activity) and is Washington state's flagship land-grant institution. In 1890 Agricultural College, Experiment Station and Science School Today, WSU educates more than 31,000 students on six campuses, including the main campus in Pullman, as well as Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, Everett and the online Global Campus.

WSU has strong academic programs, particularly in engineering and architecture through the Voiland College, in agricultural sciences through pioneering veterinary programs and the Carson College of Business. The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication is internationally respected. It is also prominent in environmental sciences, computer science, nursing and pharmacy.

WSU places a strong emphasis on applied research and public service. The university supports agricultural innovation, has a strong research presence at national laboratories, and invests hundreds of millions of dollars in R&D each year. Its 1,742-acre main campus in Pullman is located on College Hill in the Palouse district and is noted for its neo-Georgian architecture, modern student living facilities, championship golf course and sustainability programs.

Campus life is vibrant with more than 300 student clubs, an active fraternity life, and student media such as The Daily Evergreen newspaper and KZUU radio. The "Cougars" sports teams compete at the NCAA Division I level and are in the West Coast Conference in many sports. The university's athletic history is full of national success dating back to 1917.
