Accessibility Statement
In effect from
Draft. This document has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor and does not constitute legal advice. It is published here for review and is not indexed by search engines.
Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device they use and whatever help they need to use it.
We are aiming to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA, the international standard for web accessibility. This statement explains where we have got to, and is honest about what still needs work.
What this covers
This statement applies to the website at happyeducation.uk in both English and Turkish. It does not cover other organisations' websites that we link to, or documents produced by institutions that we pass on to you.
What we have done
- The site is built with standard HTML elements, so screen readers and other assistive technology can understand its structure.
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the item you have moved to is always visibly outlined.
- There is a skip link at the top of each page so you can jump straight to the content.
- Text and background colours have been checked against the AA contrast requirement, and the check runs automatically whenever the design changes.
- Text can be resized up to 200 per cent, and the layout reflows on a small screen without a second scrollbar.
- Headings follow a proper order, with one main heading per page.
- Images that carry meaning have alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Form fields have visible labels, and error messages explain what to fix rather than just marking a field red.
- Buttons and links are large enough to tap comfortably on a phone.
- Nothing moves, flashes or plays automatically.
- Each page declares its language, so a screen reader pronounces Turkish and English correctly.
What we know does not work well yet
We would rather list these than pretend they are not there.
- Content moved from our previous website. Some older pages and images carry alternative text that is missing or unhelpful. We are rewriting them page by page.
- Documents. Some PDFs and brochures produced before this site was built are not tagged for screen readers. If you need one in a different format, ask and we will provide the content another way.
- Third party content. Embedded maps and videos are built by other companies. We choose the most accessible options available to us, but we do not control their code and some of it may not meet AA.
- Bot protection. Our forms use a challenge to stop automated abuse. It is designed to be accessible and usually requires nothing from you, but if it blocks you, you can always contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp instead, and we will not treat that as a lesser route.
- Complex tables. A few comparison tables scroll sideways on a narrow screen. They are readable, but they are not as comfortable as we want them to be.
If you hit something not on this list, please tell us. The list is only as good as what we know.
How we test
We run automated accessibility checks as part of building the site, we check colour contrast automatically whenever the design tokens change, and we test pages with a keyboard by hand. Automated tools catch perhaps a third of real problems, so we do not treat a clean automated report as proof that a page is accessible.
This statement is based on our own assessment. We have not commissioned an independent audit. If we do, we will say so here and publish what it found.
Tell us about a problem
If any part of this website stops you doing what you came to do, please contact us:
- Email: admin@happyeducation.uk
- Phone and WhatsApp: +44 7735 826785
Tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and what happened. It helps to know your browser and any assistive technology you use, but do not worry if you would rather not say.
We aim to reply within 5 working days, and to fix the problem or give you the information another way within 20 working days. If a fix will take longer, we will tell you why and when to expect it.
If you are not satisfied
If you are unhappy with how we respond, use our complaints procedure. You can also contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service, which advises on rights under the Equality Act 2010: equalityadvisoryservice.com.
The public sector accessibility regulations do not apply to us, because we are a private company. We hold ourselves to the same standard anyway.
About this statement
This statement was prepared on 20 August 2026 as part of rebuilding the website, and reflects the site as built. We review it at least once a year, and whenever we make a significant change to the site.
